Political Advocacy

Just because you are not interested in politics… doesn’t mean politics isn’t interested in you. (Especially your wallet.)

Fighting city hall, so you don’t have to

Advocacy means taking political positions on issues that affect business. It is a primary function of the Chamber, alongside education and connection — because our members work here, live here, and play here.

Local

City councils throughout Silicon Valley, where the decisions that hit your business first get made.

County

Santa Clara County — the Board of Supervisors, county agencies, and countywide measures that reach every business here.

State

The California State Legislature and Governor’s office, when statewide policy affects valley business.

Federal

Congressional advocacy in rare instances where it matters most.

Members shape our positions

Members are encouraged to participate in the advocacy position decision-making process through the member portal — helping shape the Chamber’s official stances on business-related issues.

Track it yourself, free

The California Chamber of Commerce publishes its bill tracking and “job killer” list publicly — no membership required. Useful if you want to see what is moving in Sacramento before it lands on your desk.

Recent positions & outcomes

Advocacy only sells membership when it shows results. This table is the format — staff fills in the record. staff to complete

WhenIssue & position takenOutcome for business
2026[Position the Chamber took before a city council or the county][What it saved or won for members]
2025[State legislation the Chamber weighed in on][Result]
2025[Local permitting / fee / ordinance position][Result]

When this table is real, the Chamber can make the claim other chambers make: our advocacy alone can cover the cost of your dues.

Elected officials come to the Chamber to hear the voice of business.

Make sure your voice is part of it.
